Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro (MEHFPGP), identified by CAS number 80714-61-0. It consists of the ACTH(4-7) fragment extended at the C-terminus by a Pro-Gly-Pro motif — a modification that markedly increases resistance to enzymatic degradation while removing the corticotropic activity of the parent hormone.
